The HappyGirl Dance
Where to even start? Life is so good right now. So very good. Yesterday was a nonworking day. Those are always good. Right? Had plans to meet Sarah for ritas on the patio at Mesa Rosa,,,how can that ever be a bad thing? It was 83 degrees outside,,perfect patio weather. Just as I was getting ready to go, Maggie showed up. With news. She hated to tell me,,but Mallory was coming home. MALLORY IS COMING HOME. For the entire Thanksgiving week. I sat down at the kitchen table and cried. I nearly fell over. My Mallory is coming home. I get to see her. I get to hold her. I get to snuggle in her bed with her and smell her Malloryness in my house. Mallory is coming home. I giggled. I grinned. I cried. Maggie just looked at me,,she understood. My girl is coming home. Verily I say unto you,,,I am the happiest, luckiest mom in the whole world. I didn't think I would get to see her until Christmas,,and she's coming home a full month before that. Just for a week. A blessed week of Mallory being home. Yes.
Longhorn game tickets. Get to see the Horns make me crazy in person. I can feel the roar,,smell the excitement,,breathe the Longhorn air. Going to the game. Hot dogs and beer and my Horns. I don't know how much more I can handle.
Did I mention that life is just good right now?
Even the Napoleonic bitchfromhell at work cannot bring me down. I did make it clear today that I don't need a mother,,I have one. I checked my left hand,,no ring there,,and until Napoleon decides to drop three carats from Tiffanys onto the ring finger of my left hand,,she does not have the right to be on my back and up my ass for twelve hours every day. If she shows up with a little blue box and the requisite ring,,we'll talk. Until that time,,she can back off. Immediately. She doesn't feed me, she doesn't fuck me, she didn't give birth to me and she doesn't sign my paycheck. She matters not. I think that's clear enough for even a flawed little general to comprehend. Don't you?
