Fat Tuesday

What an odd day. Wonderfully so. Oddly so. Typical I suppose. The last hurrah before Lent. Robert collaborated with Paula Deen to create a dinner extraordinaire. Thick rich gumbo,,full of shrimp and sausage and chicken. Perfection. Bottle of wine made by Oz. Perfection. Beautiful night,,good friends, good wine and good food. Charles wore my Mardi Gras shrimp beads. Of course. Roberts dads birthday so long phone call with him. He's doing well. Looking forward to coming back to Texas for another visit. Cutest man ever. Looks like he stepped out of an L.L. Bean catalog. Roberts girls arrive today-pending JetBlue delivery. House finally ready for them. New smishy blankets and fluffy pillows and exquisite sheets. Girly girl stuff loaded into the bathroom. Roses planted in the backyard. Girl food in the pantry and fridge. I've never seen a man so excited about a pending estrogen takeover.
Arrived back at my abode to find the usual surrogate children tossed about on the couches. Two guitars,,,American Idol on the screen,,,one child working feverishly on college essay,,,remains of dinner on every flat surface,,,life is good. Very good.
