The Void

Mallory graduated. I am the mother of a college graduate. An employed college graduate. She starts work in DC in June. Thrilled? Absolutely. Proud? Incredibly. Excited? Not even remotely. She's going far far away. Again.
In March she had her senior recital. Amazing. She walked out on the stage all by herself and just stood there looking beautiful and sang like an angel for almost an hour. My daughter. She sings. Beautifully. The reception was gorgeous,,if you don't look in the corner and see the exmonsterinlaw and her minions standing there. 3 dozen roses from Ecuador. HUGE ROSES. Petit fours from Mallorys favorite bakery in Longview. Family and friends. Great weekend.

She sang at graduation too. The national anthem. Perfection in a black hat and Potteresque robe with ribbons and such. More family fun. Weekend at the Hyatt Resort in San Antonio to celebrate the occasion. Good times. No monsterinlaw.

Last week she did the unthinkable. The absolutely unimaginable. She cut her hair. That glorious hair. Her signature. Donated 14 inches to Locks of Love. I was prepared to hate it. Wanted to hate it. She looks adorable. Sporty and current and stylish and,,,grown up.

Robert left. Part of me wants to say "finally". The other larger part is lost in mourning. It needed to happen. His timing sucks. The girls are happy. They loved him but didn't ever think he deserved their mother. He was a sponge. I miss him. I've cried for a week. Haven't eaten in a week. Found solace in the sun. Tan is beautiful. Highlights perfected.

Maggie has found an apartment. She's moving out in July. My roomie and clone is deserting me.

The void I am feeling is immense. This big old house is going to be very empty. And clean. And MINE.
